America/New_York
The Forum at Columbia University, 601 W. 125th St., New York, NY 10027 Auditorium

The Forum is pleased to present Films at The Forum, our latest public program bringing free movie screenings to The Forum on a monthly basis. This February, in honor of Black History Month, we've partnered with the Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture and Columbia University's Institute for Research in African-American Studies (IRAAS) to present a special double-feature with screenings of Invisible Beauty (2023) on Friday, February 16 and Black is/Black Ain't (1995) on Friday, February 23.

The February 23rd screening will be followed by a conversation led by Columbia University prof. Dr. Jafari Allen and Ms. Novella Ford, Associate Director of the Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture.

Black Is... Black Ain't explores the theme of Black identity through performances by choreographer Bill T. Jones, poet Essex Hemphill and commentary from noted cultural critics Angela Davis, bell hooks, Dr. Cornel West and others.
