Music Monday is a free and open-to-the public monthly concert series hosted by The Forum. Concerts take place in The Forum's ground-floor Atrium on Monday evenings, once a month.
The July event will feature The Henry Paul Trio -- players from the vibrant and forward-looking Louis Armstrong Jazz Performance Program. This on-campus program brings together the many talented and creative jazz players at Columbia University, providing lessons and ensemble practice that incorporate a wide array of stylistic and rhythmic designs. Columbia's strength is its interdisciplinary approach to jazz studies, and the LAJPP is a central part of a larger mission which sees jazz as a music without borders and a mode for integrating scholarly inquiry with innovative teaching and community dialogue.
Prior to the concert, at 5:30pm, we'll celebrate new artwork now on display in the east Atrium through a partnership with the Harlem Public Arts Project. This summer 2023 exhibit, "Icons of Activism," features portraits of two civil rights activists: Rosa Parks and Angela Davis. Come hear from the artists behind these paintings while enjoying refreshments and live music!
RSVP encouraged.
