Little Free Climate Justice Libraries is a project funded by the Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Anti-Bias (DEIA) grant through Columbia University’s Climate School. Started by Climate School students Georgia Grzywacz and Julia Boger-Hawkins, the libraries aim to make a curated selection of climate justice literature accessible to anybody and everybody.

Climate justice focuses on the root causes of the climate crisis through an intersectional lens of racism, classism, capitalism, economic injustice, and environmental harm. Social inequities have in many ways caused, and been exacerbated by, the climate crisis, and climate justice implies that structural change is necessary to rectify those harms.

The Forum is pleased to house a Little Free Climate Justice Library in its ground-floor Atrium which is open to the public seven days a week, from 8 AM to 8 PM. The Library is located in the east Atrium, most easily accessible via the 601 W. 125th entrance to The Forum.

To use the library, simply take out a book, read it, and return it when you’ve finished. That’s it! Knowledge is power, and we hope that the Little Free Climate Justice Libraries will allow New Yorkers from all walks of life to share resources in order to build a just and sustainable future together.
